This is the 1,000th painting I’ve done since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I art-ed my way through my cancer journey and I think it made it a little bit easier. As soon as I finished my cancer journey and entered survivorship, I moved overseas to Australia. That was also difficult but eased by art-ing my way through it. After 1,000 paintings, I have noticed that I can always come up with something, no matter what is going on. It may be profound or it may be mediocre, but I can always come up with something. I’ve noticed that I feel healthier when I do this end of day practice. I think about my day. I reflect on the things I experienced. I do some kind of painting related to it. And finally, I write about it. It seems to be working for me. I have a regular group of readers and even more who just see what I paint on social media.
I have been using the Give InKind platform for my daily updates to readers. Today I am going to begin transitioning my blog to my website. I will post in both locations for now until I fully understand how to use the new blog system. We set it up so it should post on the website and on my social media sites with a link to the blog so it’s easier for people to get there to read the posts. Up until now, the blog has been by invitation only. It will be interesting to see what it’s like to have it public. The blog will be on my website at www.sacred-self.com. I will see you there. 🙂
Here’s a painting of me joyfully celebrating that I’ve reached Day 1,000. There were no guarantees. I’m really happy to have made it.
